Game Dinner

GAME DINNER

This year's dinner will be on Saturday, March 17th at 5:00. Once again we will be meeting inside the rustic Great Blue Heron Lodge located at the Rookery. What is the Rookery, you ask? It is a Geauga County Park located just 2 miles from our club grounds near Munson Township. It has been the perfect spot due to its location and being part of the park district, it is cost effective. Everyone is invited. Just bring a covered dish or dessert. Wild game or not! Coffee, pop and water will be provided. Directions from Chesterland: Take route 322 E. to Rockheaven road and turn right. The road will then make a right turn, follow it to Cedar road. Turn right on Cedar and you're there. For more information, call Mike at (440)-227-6756.

CLUB MEETING

Season's Greetings! I hope everyone had an enjoyable fall and all is well. With the year's end closing in, it is a good time to have a club meeting. Our club is at a cross roads and there are many things we need to discuss concerning the future of it. The land owners are looking to raise our rent a good deal in the near future. Our lease is a bargain. As it is now, we are paying over $300 a month to hold 6 shoots a year. It is a lot of work every year to stay above water, with insurance, targets, road maintenance, restroom cleaning, grounds maintenance, and the like. If our lease goes up too high for us to make ends meet what can we do? Losing our club grounds does not mean the end of our club, but it does put us in a difficult situation and we will need to liquidate our assets. If we do stay on Sperry Rd. we will need to come up with a considerable amount of income. How do we do that? How much is too much? How many members are willing to do what it takes no matter what we decide? If you care about the future of the Club you will be at this meeting, as it is very important. Your attendance, or the lack of, will answer my last question! Our next meeting will be Friday, December 16th at the Gander Mountain on Heisley Rd. at 6:30. If you can't make it to the meeting for some reason but want to express your opinion, call one of the officers and tell them how you feel. Hope to see everyone at the meeting! MIKE

Deer Shoot & Pig Roast

Our Deer shoot 3~D tournament September 10th is unique as it is the only shoot where you pick the steak you shoot from, the idea is you need to decide your own effective range, the blue(cub) steak is worth 5 points, the yellow(Trad)steak 8points, green (HUNTER) steak 10POINTS, and the number (pro) is worth 11 points, you get the points only if your arrow is inside the ten ring, if you are inside the 8 ring you get nothing if your arrow is out of the vitals you must subtract the points given for the steak you chosen. each station you must decide your best shot, once you decide to move up to a closer steak you can't move back, only forward, it may sound confusing at first,if given a honest effort you will realize your true effective range!

The Pig roast September 11th is our way of showing the gratitude we have to our members and patrons, the cost is $25.00 and includes early bird breakfast,a lite lunch, refreshments during the shoot, Wonderful Pig dinner, Door prizes a Gun being the grand prize. and all day shooting to try to beat your score from Deer shoot Saturday. perhaps trying a different strategy. this is a presale event only 100 tickets available so come early if you want a seat

CLUB INVOLVEMENT

Our Club is unique in the fact that we have no mandatory work hours. All work is done on a volunteer basis. That is why we are asking members for help to set-up/take-down targets for our shoots. Ideally, we would like a minimum of 6 volunteers for each shoot (but more would be better). Two members would be responsible to set-up targets 1-10 as well as take them down. Two more members responsible for targets 11-20, and two more for targets 21-30. Targets may be set-up the week before the shoot and taken down the following week, anytime at your convenience .... You determine the time. Any and all help is greatly appreciated and urgently needed. There are various other projects that also require some attention: upkeep of club grounds, trail maintenance, steps, bridges, driveway potholes, to name a few. There is always plenty to do, and the list is growing with continued neglect. To have any questions answered, and see how you can contribute, please contact: Edd Read (Pres.), Jim LaBant (V.P.), Todd Kelly (Field Chairman), or Mike Ballash (P.R. Liasion).

EVENT CHAIRMEN NEEDED: We are looking for volunteers to serve as Event Chairman for the following Club Shoots:

3-D Deer Shoot: September 10th Pig Roast: September 11th

If you are willing to serve as a Chairman for any of the above events, please contact Todd Kelly at (440) 679-1816 or Gary Kingston at (440) 729-3183.
